A Word About the Aloha Festival A Celebration of Hawaii, it's music, and the spirit of Hawaii draws record crowds despite challenging weather
This past weekend Hawaii Calls- Florida presented the 7th annual "Ho'olaule'a...The Aloha Festival" on the waterfront in Lake Worth. There was magic in the air as multiple Grammy Award winner George Kahumoku, Jr. serenaded the fun loving crowd as a part of a full day of great Hawaiian and Polynesian entertainment. Charles and June Kealiealoha pour out their heart and soul each year with the help of a small but highly motivated Hawaii Calls committee to make all of this happen. Wow! The festivities began the evening before when a Hawaii jam session at the Aloha Cafe in Lake Worth that put smiles on everyone's face. What a great venue. Uncle Charlie and Grammy winner George Kahumoku played their hearts out and Sandi and many others danced the hula. This OHA supported event drew Hawaii lovers from all over Florida. There were hula lessons, story telling, ukulele lessons, Hawaiian language lessons, great Hawaiian food from the Aloha Cafe, and much more. I was pleased to give a full report about the Akaka Bill that passed the House of representatives. I will be in Washington this week to meet with several U.S. Senators and others about the importance of this legislation. Hawaii Calls Florida, Inc. proudly announced that all of the profit from this event is dedicated to "A Child is Missing- Hawaii." There is a lot of excitement about the Child is Missing event coming up in Fort Lauderdale on November 16th which will honor Hawaii as the 50th State in the Union to join this great 'non for profit' organization that was recently honored by the United nations. Hawaii's own Kimo Kahoano will be coming in from Honolulu as one of the many VIP's and Diplomats who will be in attendance for this fun filled evening. More details on the great 'ACIM-Hawaii- gathering later this week. Aloha, Randy Randy Avon Co Chair A Child is Missing- Hawaii`
